History
The Hesperus Ski Patrol Ski Swap is in its 45th year. It started out in basements and garages and has evolved into one of the areas most anticipated ski sale event. The Hesperus Ski Patrol is a group of dedicated volunteers and a member of the National Ski Patrol. Both Ski Patrol and Community members donate hundreds of hours in preparation and organization to make the swap a success. The proceeds from the swap go back into the community in the form of education, ski safety, donations and more. In past years donations have been made to Annies Orphans, La Plata County Search and Rescue, the Durango Highschool Basketball team, the Purgatory ski team, the freestyle team and more. Every year Hesperus hosts a truly affordable 3 day avalanche awareness course (under $50.00), puts on a 16 week outdoor emergency care course, for potential ski patrollers, and hosts on going education in first aid and rescue for the patrol all of which are supported by funds from the swap. Over the years the all volunteer patrol has provided care to hundreds of persons, in the backcountry, the rivers, the highways and the ski area. Without the support of the community and your donations none of this would be possible. Our sincere thanks to everyone who has contributed to this success.

Groups that are interested in volunteering at the swap must be organized, and have a responsible adult present at all times during the assigned volunteer period. Volunteer groups may receive donations from HSP for their contribution.
Public check-in: Friday October 31, 12:00pm - 7pm
Registration fee per item is $1.00. You will receive a check from the Hesperus Ski Patrol (HSP) less a 20% commission to the HSP. You may fill out the registration form in advance to speed up the chek-in process.
Public pick-up: Sunday November 2, 8:00am - 12:00pm
Your checks will be available for pick-up on Sunday morning. You must have photo ID and the registration form to pick up your check. If you are unable to pick up the check, we will mail it to you. Any items left after 12:00pm November 2 will become the property of HSP. Unclaimed items may be donated to charity of choice.
